Start with the miner you are actually changing
Read the full model name, including Pro, XP, Plus and the cooling variant. Then check the board information reported for that device in HashCore Toolkit. Keep its address and device identity together so that a nearby miner does not become your reference by mistake.
A model family is not a board identifier. Two units called S19j Pro can require different packages. A board may also have been replaced since the miner left the factory, so an old purchase description is not enough.
What the four codes mean
AML means Amlogic. XIL means Xilinx. CV means CVITEK. BB means BeagleBone. Use the platform reported by the device and the corresponding entry in our catalogue. A readable board label can provide another useful check.
The position of an SD slot or a connector is a clue, not the final answer: different platforms can have similar external features. If a visible label and the software report disagree, keep both observations and ask us to identify the revision. There is no need to open powered equipment just to complete a download form.
Turn the board name into the right download
Open our firmware guide, select the full model and then the confirmed board. The selector only offers board routes present in our current catalogue. Open the resulting model and installation pages together: one supplies the matching package, the other explains the procedure.
No matching board option? Leave the choice unresolved and send us the model, the reported platform and a clear label photo if you already have one. Do not choose the closest-looking board name. An available package for another platform is not a substitute.
You are ready when these three details agree
The physical model, the reported board and the catalogue entry should describe the same device. Keep its current firmware version or stock build date as well; that affects the installation route even after the board is known. This is the useful handoff: exact model, confirmed board, current firmware. From there we can point you to a specific next step.
Questions and answers
Can I identify the board from S19 or S21 alone?
No. Use the full model variant and the actual platform reported for that miner. A family name does not settle every board option.
Does an SD slot prove the board is Xilinx?
No. Several board layouts can have an SD slot. Confirm the platform using the device report or a readable board marking.
What if Toolkit cannot identify the board?
Keep the exact model and software response. Send those details and an existing label photo to our support team. We can resolve the board before a package is selected.
Choose the route for your board
Use the model and board together. If one is still unknown, we can help identify it first.
